My memory from the war
The Polish Army marches on,
        the battle has started,
        and cannons roar,
        but our Polish Army
        marches on, bold and brave.
It marches on, with no care
for death, for hardship or toil.
        To the Homeland it gives
a sacrifice of life and blood.
They capture cities,
and now for the capital they fight.
        And the blood, it pours,
        in rivers thick.
But the Polish soldier
        is a tenacious man.
        He fights to the death
        for Warsaw’s freedom.
The German occupiers
        flee in disarray,
        and our soldiers,
        victorious, enter the city’s gates.
Our age-old enemy
        is defeated at last.
        The blood of our heroes
        has given us freedom.
