My wartime experiences

On the first day of the war I was horrified, because it was my turn to graze cattle. At noon, when Russian planes came to bomb Biała Podlaska [?], German planes gave chase. One of the Russian planes did not drop its bombs. They set it on fire in the air, but it flew over the forest and dropped five bombs in one go. I was grazing cows about 300 meters from that place – [for me] that was the most dangerous thing.
