Warsaw, 13 March 1946. Examining Judge Alicja Germasz, delegated to the Commission for the Investigation of German Crimes, interviewed the person named below as a witness. Having been advised of the criminal liability for making false declarations and of the significance of the oath, the witness was sworn and testified as follows:

As an employee of the Municipal Department of Sanitation, I carried out burials of human corpses that were lying around the city – in streets, buildings, houses, etc. on behalf of that Department. In this way my group of workers, proceeding along Marszałkowska Street, came across the burnt-down premises of S. Anc’s Pharmacy at Marszałkowska Street 21. From there, on 16 February 1945, we collected 14 bodies and buried them in a joint grave in Aleja Piłsudskiego, on the corner with Marszałkowska Street. These were all human skeletons with charred remains of flesh; 13 were lying on debris in the basement from the side of Marszałkowska Street (marked with no. [none] on the site plan), while the 14th was in a sitting position, attached in some way to the wall of that basement.
On 17 February, five more bodies were taken from S. Anc’s Pharmacy; they were also lying on debris in the basement (marked with no. [none]) – three were skeletons with charred remains of flesh, while the remaining two were male corpses, fully clothed. These bodies were buried in a joint grave on aleja Piłsudskiego, on the corner with Marszałkowska Street. I would like to add that seven human bodies (five burnt, two clothed) were taken from the premises of the burnt-down house at Marszałkowska Street 19. These bodies were also buried in a joint grave in aleja Piłsudskiego (next to the two mentioned above).
I would like to add that I have provided this information on the basis of my private notes, which – however – due to the haste in which we had to work then, may not be completely reliable.
