My most memorable moment from the German occupation

It was in 1944, in the summer, when I was grazing goats with my friend near the stadium. I saw some movement. Numerous German cars were driving along the avenue towards the stadium. Several cars went into the forest, to the stadium. Three cars were left in the middle of the road, by the stadium. Since we saw the Germans get out of their cars, we led the goats home. Then shots and a machine gun could be heard.

When the cars left, a lot of people went to see what had happened, so my friend and I went there, too. We saw ten Poles lying lifeless on the ground. Their hands were tied behind their backs. This moment is deeply engraved in my heart, and I will remember it for the rest of my life.
