My most memorable moment from the German occupation
It was during the German occupation. Everywhere, people were talking about the Germans murdering Poles, executing them or taking them to concentration camps. One morning in November 1941, three cars came to the forest in Dyminy. Two cars brought prisoners, and the last one brought German gendarmes, who were well armed with machine guns.
The prisoners were ordered to get out. The Germans gave them trowels and told them to dig pits. One large pit was dug by the forest and two smaller ones were dug at the edge of the forest. When they were ready, the prisoners were ordered to line up by the pits. The Germans fired several rounds and killed them. Next the Germans buried the murdered and left. 72 people were shot then.
Now crosses have been erected and the pines are rustling over these graves…
