[Missing] from 1939 to 1945. The times were very hard, because when the Germans invaded Poland, they took revenge on the Poles. They took the last bits of grain from us, which made us starve. We had to give away the cows, horses, everything.
When the front reached the Vistula, the Germans started to resettle entire villages, and people from these villages came to live with us. The Germans took a lot of people to dig trenches near the front. They had to work very hard.
When 1945 came, on the morning of 15 January, a Sunday, the Polish and Soviet armies began to fire cannons, and the shells were exploding over our villages. Only then did the Polish and Soviet troops drive the Germans off. And we were finally free.
