Our most memorable moment from the occupation
The Germans surrounded our village and rounded up the men. They told us all to leave the house and go to the street, and then they told us to return home, while dad and the neighbors were taken by car to Olszynki. There the matter was settled: one group was earmarked for execution, the second group was to be sent to Auschwitz, and the third group was to be sent to a labor camp in Bliżyn [illegible] months.
[The men] from the first group were taken to the forest in Suków and shot; they were my close neighbors. There is a mass grave there, which holds about 50 people. Soon there will be a funeral and a mass for the murdered. My dad was taken to a camp, but shortly afterwards he managed to escape and returned home.
