How I studied during the occupation

Plan:
1. The circumstances in which I studied.
2. My class plan.

During the school year of 1941–42, at the age of 13, I attended the sixth grade of the elementary school in Korytniki. However, as a result of the war, education was suspended in January 1942 and the school buildings were occupied by the army.

From then until 1943, I had no opportunity to attend any school or study privately. Only later that same year, having moved in with my parents in Krasiczyn, was I able to start private education.

I was taught by Prof. Maria Stopka. My lessons started on 1 December. They were held at my parents’ house every evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., because at that time the professor finished her day job at the office, and I was finishing my chores.

The subjects I studied were: Polish, German, mathematics with geometry, geography, nature. I usually did my homework after class, late in the evening, because then it was quiet and I was less exposed to the prying eyes of informers.

This is how I studied until 30 May 1944. Critical material conditions forced me to stop studying. Fortunately, during my studies, I had no obstacles from the German authorities.
