My wartime experiences – a round-up and arrests in Łuków

Round-ups in Łuków occurred frequently. I remember only one round-up, which the Germans carried out in Wójtostwo. At 3.00 a.m. they arrived by car, surrounded the village and began rounding people up. People woke up and started running away. The German gendarmes surrounded the houses and started taking people outside. At 8.00 a.m. they took the arrestees to Radzyń, then to Lublin. No one knows happened to them. I felt terrible that day. I had dreams about this round-up for several nights. I felt so bad for these people.
