My experiences from the war

One time in 1943, the Germans came to our village, surrounded it and wouldn’t let anybody leave. At first they took 11 men. The women begged the Germans to let them go, but they didn’t want to let them go, they just took them to the cemetery and held them there. Other people hid wherever they could.

After some time [the Germans] ordered people to stand in a line and walk towards the forest. Then they started shooting. People fled, but they didn’t manage [to save themselves]. One of them fell down and pretended to be dead. When the Germans left, the man got up and went away. The dead people were buried in a common grave the next day.
