On 11 October 1947 in Sosnowiec, the Municipal Court in Sosnowiec, with Judge J. [illegible] presiding and with the participation of a reporter, Z. Mańkowska, heard the person named below as a witness. Having been advised of the criminal liability for making false declarations, of the wording of Article 107 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and of the significance of the oath, the witness was sworn and testified as follows:
Name and surname | Andrzej Suchojad |
Age | 45 |
Parents’ names | Tomasz and Marianna, née Janecka |
Place of residence | Sosnowiec, Daleka Street 4 |
Occupation | Vice Director of Milowice mine |
Religious affiliation | Roman Catholic |
Criminal record | none |
Relationship to the parties | none |
From 1941 until the end of the occupation, I was in various concentration camps. From 1942 to November 1944, I was in the Auschwitz concentration camp.
I recognize the individual shown to me in the photograph with absolute certainty as a guard at the entrance gate in the concentration camp in Auschwitz. I didn’t know his name at that time. I saw this guard sometimes beat prisoners for no reason at all as they passed through the gate. Once I was struck by him with a thick stick (it could have been a stool leg), for no reason at all. I went with my group twice a day through this gate, to work and back. I saw Buntrock at the gate several times. It is possible that he stood there all the time, but I can’t say that, because we weren’t allowed to have a good look, and there were always at least a few guards at the gate. More than once I heard from my fellow prisoners the following opinion about Buntrock: “That motherfucker is already standing there”.
Besides myself, the following may provide information about Buntrock:
Marian Grelecki – Jelenia Góra,
Dróżac – a clerk in the National Bank in Sosnowiec,
Bolesław Borek – Sosnowiec, Kolonia Focha, employee of the Miners’ Trade Union in Katowice,
Mleczko – Będzin.
The report was read out.
