JAN SARAPATA

On 29 September 1947 in Katowice, the Municipal Court in Katowice, Third Branch, with Associate Judge L. Walczyk presiding and with the participation of a reporter, Trainee Judge P. Czyż-Grabiński, interviewed the person specified below as a witness. Having advised the witness of the criminal liability for making false declarations and of the significance of the oath, the Judge administered the oath pursuant to the provisions of Article 111 and 113 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The witness then testified as follows:

Name and surname Jan Sarapata

Age 34
Parents’ names Stanisław and Julia, née Krzęśniarz
Place of residence Katowice, Francuska Street 20
Occupation waiter
Criminal record none
Relationship to the parties none

I was detained in the concentration camp in Auschwitz from the beginning of the camp’s existence until 24 March 1944, the day when I escaped. I don’t know the name Schumacher. Maybe I could recognize him in a photograph.

I have read the report before signing it.
