On 26 September 1947 in Poznań, the Municipal Court in Poznań, Second Penal Division, with Judge Schaeffer presiding and with the participation of a reporter, court trainee A. Nowicki, interviewed the person named below as a witness. Having advised the witness of the criminal liability for making false declarations, of the wording of Art. 107 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, and of the significance of the oath, the judge swore the witness in accordance with Art. 111 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, whereupon the witness testified as follows:

Name and surname Maria Janicka
Age 45
Parents’ names Jan and Joanna, née Sołtys
Place of residence Chocicza, Śrem county
Occupation teacher
Religious affiliation Roman Catholic
Criminal record none
Relationship to the parties none

I met the accused Maria Mandl in 1940 at Ravensbrück. At the time she oversaw prisoners. In the summer of 1942 I personally saw the accused kick a Roma woman for having some potato peels on her that she wanted to cook. The accused was a great sadist and she beat prisoners for the slightest offense or kicked them until they lost consciousness.

I have testified.

The report was read out, accepted and signed.
