In Chmielnik, on 2 December 1946, I, militiaman Stanisław Gąsior from the Citizens’ Militia station in Chmielnik, interviewed the person specified below regarding the circumstances of the executions of the Poles carried out by the Nazis during the occupation. The witness testified as follows:

Name and Surname Roman Pakosiński
Parents’ names Józef and Waleria, née Słomka
Age 42 years old
Nationality Polish
Religious affiliation Catholic
Occupation blacksmith
Place of residence Chmielnik, Targowa Street 49
Criminal record none

In April 1943 – I don’t remember the exact day – the local gendarmes from Chmielnik and Kielce marched 16 Poles next to my house (I live near a Jewish cemetery), having driven them from Kielce to this cemetery. The Poles were being marched with their hands tied behind their backs. At the cemetery, all 16 of them were ordered to kneel down in a row. Then they were shot with a machine gun. Those who still kept moving were kicked and finished off with a shot from a revolver by gendarme Krauze. I was at home at the time, 50 meters away.

Later on, the gendarmes gathered several locals and made them bury these people. Sylwester Hauczko, Bolesław Słomka, and Stanisław Sadłocha were among them.

The murdered Poles were from Sędziszów, district of Jędrzejów, and thereabouts. Later, following the offensive of 1945, the families came to claim the corpses. The Municipal Council had the three remaining corpses moved to a Catholic cemetery.

I confirm that this is my testimony.
