In Wełecz, on 19 September 1948, at 2.20 p.m., I, Senior Sergeant Andrzej Sykulski from the Citizens’ Militia Station in Busko-Zdrój, acting pursuant to Article 20 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and complying with the formal requirements set out in Articles 235-240, 258 and 259 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, with the participation of reporter Józef Furman, a functionary from the Citizens’ Militia station in Busko-Zdrój, whom I have informed of his obligation to attest to the veracity of the report and the procedure, interviewed the person specified below as a witness. Having been advised of his right to refuse to testify for the reasons set out in Art 104 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, and of the criminal liability, following article 140 of the Penal Code, for making false statements, the witness testified as follows:

With regards to the matter at hand I can provide the following information: In July 1944 I heard shots in the Wełecz forest, and I know that the victims had been brought to the forest in two trucks. 29 people were shot on that occasion.
I know that German gendarmes very frequently brought people to the forest in Wełecz for execution. In the autumn of 1944, they brought 11 people – exclusively scholars and teachers. These people were shot as they were stepping off the truck, and at the end of it all [the gendarmes] threw a hand grenade in their midst. In 1944 in the Wełecz forest, German gendarmes shot three people who I didn’t know. After those three had been shot, the leader of the village community ordered me to bury them. They had been killed with a shot to the back of the head, and their hands were tied behind their backs. In the Wełecz forest gendarmes shot young men and old, as well as women and children. The Germans executed up to 500 people there whom they had transported in groups by truck and shot in various locations in the forest.
