I was detained in the camp in Ravensbrück from 13 September 1940 until 27 April 1945. With regards to the list of war criminals from the military personnel at Auschwitz that was read out, here is what I can say about the SS women whose actions I know from Ravensbrück.

The only name from the Ravensbrück personnel that I know is Maria Mandl. I encountered her from the time of my arrival at the camp until her departure to Auschwitz, the date of which I cannot remember. She was at first an Aufseherin [overseer] of the bunker, that is, the camp prison. She treated both male and female prisoners detained in the bunker with great cruelty. There were rumors about her killing several people a day. I have seen a German prisoner, named Elza Niebegal, who had been beaten by Mandl and looked terrible. Two months after the beating her buttocks were still black. Following several inspections by Himmler in Ravensbrück, Mandl was promoted to camp commandant. She was feared not only by the prisoners, but also by the SS women. Because of her, some of them were imprisoned in the camp for helping inmates.

It seems that in 1943 Mandl left for Auschwitz. In any case, I cannot tell when exactly she left Ravensbrück.

If I were shown photographs of other SS women, maybe I could say more about the SS women on the list that was read out.

I confirm that this report is in accordance with my testimony. I signed it after reading.
