On 23 May 1940, I was arrested by the Gestapo in Szamotuły and sent to the concentration camp in Ravensbrück. At the time I arrived there, Mandl oversaw the camp prison. If I recall correctly, in April 1942 she became head (Lagerführer) of the Ravensbrück camp for women. Mandl had a terrible reputation among us, and she treated the Poles in a particularly horrible manner. She beat prisoners – I got hit by her once. Mandl ordered that I be detained for three weeks in a dark cell and for half a year in the penal block, as punishment for helping my friends. In the dark cell I was given food only once every five days. This was in May 1942.
The following people were sent to the penal block with me: a captain’s wife, Aniela Radyk from Bydgoszcz (I don’t know the exact address), Halina Smolińska (teacher in Michorzewo, either Grodzisk or Nowy Tomyśl district), Urszula Linowiecka (Toruń). In addition, I name as witnesses Stefania Jakubowska (Mosina, Poznań district), Janina Wiśniewska (Poznań, Nad Wierzbakiem Street 31), Aleksandra Dobielinska (Poznań, Wrocławska Street 3, flat 4), Leokadia Kowalska (Zakrzewo, Rawicz district), Wanda Urbańska (Leszno, Rektyfikacja [distillery]), Renata Matuszewska (Leszno, Nowy Rynek Street 1).
The report was read out and concluded.
