Acting Judge Halina Wereńko, member of the Warsaw District Commission for the Investigation of German Crimes in Poland, acting in accordance with the provisions of the Decree of 10 November 1945 (Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland No. 51, item 293), interviewed the person specified below as an unsworn witness. Having been advised of the criminal liability for making false declarations and of the wording of art. 107 and 115 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the witness testified as follows:

Name and surname Edward Tetych, former prisoner of the Majdanek Concentration Camp

Between 6 February 1943 and 22 July 1944, I was interned at the Majdanek concentration camp. During my imprisonment, the head of the crematorium kommando [work detail] was Muhsfeldt, whom I recognize in the picture presented to me. (The witness was presented a photograph which read “Erich Muhsfeldt”, which had been sent together with a letter from the Kraków District Commission for the Investigation of German Crimes in Poland, dated 7 August 1947, no. 779/47). I saw Muhsfeldt on the camp’s premises often, but I never had any direct contact with him and I was never present when he perpetrated cruelties against prisoners. I know from stories told by other prisoners that Muhsfeldt carried out selections at the blocks, choosing the sick and the feeble to be sent to the gas chamber. I do not know if this activity was within the purview of his professional duties. Typically, selections were carried out at the SS hospital [Revier]. More details concerning the selections at the hospital can be provided by Jerzy Bargielski, at that time working at the SS hospital, and presently employed as a notary in Przasnysz.

At this point the report was concluded and read out.
