On 19 November 1947 the Municipal Court in Iłża, with Judge M. Pytlewski presiding, heard the person named below as an unsworn witness. Having been advised of the criminal liability for making false declarations and of the provisions of Article 107 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the witness testified as follows:

On 14 August 1944 the Germans surrounded our village, took all men and four women, and marched them to the Modrzejowice estate. I don’t know what kind of units these were, nor do I remember their uniforms.
They took also my husband Władysław, and I was so frightened that I immediately fled to the village of Płudnica.
It was only on 15 August 1944 that I learned from those who escaped from the forest that my husband had also been taken to the forest. At about 9.00 a.m. I went with some other people to look for my husband, and I found him by the river Modrzejowianka – he was wounded, but alive. I took him home, to Podsuliszka, where he died on the fourth day.
I buried him in the cemetery in Alojzów. I don’t know why these men had been taken by the Germans – they must have been accused of something.
I don’t know any surnames of these Germans, and I wouldn’t recognize any of them.
