JULIA MROZOWICZ

Volunteer Julia Mrozowicz, born on 6 October 1921, Kolonia Rawszczyzna, Sokal district, lwowskie voivodeship; I had worked at my parents’ farm.

On 10 February 1940 I was deported with my family to Arkhangelsk Oblast, Verusky hamlet. Many Poles lived there. We worked in the forest, even on holidays.

The living conditions were very harsh, and medical assistance was poor, Soviet style. The lack of medicaments led to a high mortality rate among the Polish populace; my father died there, and later, in Guzar, my mother also died.

After the amnesty, on 5 December 1941, we went south, to Guzar, where we were placed in a barrack. On 28 January 1942 I joined the army, and having completed a sanitary course I was assigned to the hospital as a paramedic, and I currently work at War Hospital no. 3.
