Memories of German crimes

When the Germans entered the Polish lands in 1939, they began to destroy them. The enemy took our belongings. They took away the wise and enlightened people whom the Polish state needed most. People were murdered in concentration camps or transported deep into Germany to work. The enemy was destroying and burning villages and settlements. Learning Polish was forbidden, and children were deprived of books. It was forbidden to teach history, geography, and other subjects. The Germans wanted us to forget the Polish language and become denationalized. They wanted to bring us up the German way. When preparing to flee towards the end of the war, they destroyed railway and river bridges. With the approach of the Soviet troops, the Germans started to flee for their lives.
