My most memorable moment from the German occupation

My most memorable moment from the German occupation came on 24 November 1944, when the Germans arrested [my] father and uncle, as well as our whole family. We were released 24 hours later, but my uncle and father were taken to Starachowice, to a prison, where they were both handed over to German gendarmes, who knew how to deal with good Polish citizens.

It was a very sad day for me, it seemed unimaginably long. I thought it was the last time I saw my father and uncle. But my happy moment came when the Russian army entered Starachowice and freed my father and uncle from prison.

This was my most memorable moment from the German occupation.
