Memories of German crimes

Not much time has passed since the Germans were driven out of Poland. Everyone who survived the German occupation will remember it for the rest of their life.

The Germans were very cruel in their abuse. They deported people from all over Poland to Germany for harsh labor or to concentration camps.

Thousands of soldiers, priests, teachers, and young people perished behind the wires.

Almost all of us were beaten and tortured by the Germans. A lot of prisoners starved to death. The rest worked hard and without pay.

The Germans were robbing us, stealing machinery and materials from towns, and cattle and food from villages.

I was very afraid of the German torturers. The most frightening moment was when they took my 15-year-old brother to Germany after a round-up. They wanted to take daddy too, but he was sick. They did not believe him, so they arrested him as a revenge.

The Germans were not only beating and torturing the Poles, but also executing and hanging them. They hanged 16 people in our market square. Only when the Soviet and Polish armies came, the enemy had to flee. Now the Germans have to suffer for their sins.
